Their timing seems more measured, more musical, and you'll sometimes hear accents on the 4th and 8th beats\u2014a nod to the bass lines, the tumbao, and the clave.<br>This \"on 2\" style is directly rooted in the roots of salsa. The son cubano\u2014the direct ancestor of salsa\u2014was already danced this way, with the montuno step. And the chachacha, which has made a strong comeback in recent years, is also naturally danced 'on 2'.<br>In 2001, we introduced the \"t\u00edpico\" style and the New York style to Brussels. Like anything worthwhile.\nBut it's often easier and more enjoyable than your first steps \"on 1.\"\nAnd if you choose the right level (we'll guide you), practice with pleasure (our specialty), and your teacher is competent (that helps), you'll quickly get a taste for it.\nDancing \"on 2\" isn't just about \"shifting everything by a beat\": it's about learning to listen, feel, and play with the musical richness of salsa. It's a new door that opens to greater finesse and greater pleasure.\nAnd rest assured: you can always dance \"on 1\" with anyone, whenever the opportunity arises.
